PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multimedia communication unit capable of controlling the synchronization of mutual data communication finely in media communication requiring a plurality of different signaling protocols for signaling. SOLUTION: The multimedia communication unit comprises a session section 103 managing processing for establishing a session with a destination, a protocol control section 106 performing signaling by communicating a session ID for specifying the session, an associated signaling protocol, and information indicative of the state of communication procedure, and a media data control section 109 performing data communication by communicating the session ID and the data attributes of associated communication media with the session section. Since signaling is associated with data communication by the session ID, a plurality of different signaling protocols are actuated by one application and data communication can be carried out independently without having a mutual effect.
