PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch which has high flexibility of design and geometric accuracy and which can be easily manufactured, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A spacer 7 is brought into contact with the upper face of an electrode substrate 2, and an adhesive 8 is dropped onto a part of the side face of the spacer 7. The adhesive 8 flows into a recess 6 and does not intrude into the interface between the electrode substrate 2 and the spacer 7. Thus, the spacer 7 can be adhered to the electrode substrate 2 without forming an adhesive layer between the electrode substrate 2 and the spacer 7. Similarly, a mirror substrate 10 is brought into contact with the upper face of the spacer 7 and an adhesive 11 is dropped onto a part of the side face of the mirror substrate 10. The adhesive 11 flows into a recess 9 and does not intrude into the interface between the spacer 7 and the mirror substrate 10. Thus, the mirror substrate 10 is adhered to the spacer 7 without forming an adhesive layer between the spacer 7 and the mirror substrate 10. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
