PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation unit that can stably bring a contact at a separation unit side into contact with that at an image forming apparatus body power supply section without applying screw fastening and strong press force and can be smoothly attached to or detached from the image forming apparatus body. SOLUTION: The transfer separation unit can be detachably mounted to an image forming apparatus for separating recording paper after a toner image is transferred from a photoreceptor drum from an image carrier. The transfer separation unit comprises a separation needle 81 for electrically separating the recording paper from the photoreceptor drum; a voltage application section for applying voltage for discharge to the separation needle 81; and a contact 82 for supplying power to the voltage application section in contact with the contact at the power supply section being provided at the image forming apparatus body side. In the contact 82, a groove section 821, where the power supply section at the image forming apparatus body side enters is formed when a transfer separation unit 10 is mounted to the image forming apparatus body.
