PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device capable of easily remodeling an existing elevator with a machine room to an elevator without a machine room. SOLUTION: In a construction for remodeling an existing elevator with a machine room, wherein a hoisting machine is installed in the machine room 2 on the upper side of an existing hoistway 1, to an elevator without a machine room, a supporting beam 4 is provided for supporting lifting bodies 10 and 11, the load inside the lifting body 10, a main rope 14, and the weight of sheaves 12 and 13. The supporting beam 4 is supported by a structure 3 of a building where the elevator is installed, so that the load of the weight of the lifting body 10 etc. would not act on an existing guide rail 9. Accordingly, the existing guide rail 9 can be used as it is, thereby saving materials for the remodeling construction and the trouble for the remodeling construction and thus reducing the cost.
