Image generation method has the following steps: an examination object is scanned using a helical scanning beam in order to collect absorption data; a volume image is reconstructed from the measured data by filtering and back-projection in order to generate image voxels, whereby the filtering is achieved by multiple application of a ramp filter and masking operation to the projection image in different sequences. The invention also relates to a corresponding CT unit.
