<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bias roll type electrifying device which can improve the durability of a single-polarity voltage while making good use of the advantages of a multiple-polarity voltage. <P>SOLUTION: A device 10 for imparting electric charges to a member 12 to be electrified consists of: a power source 22 for supplying an oscillating voltage signal; an electrifying roll member 14 which is disposed in the vicinity of a member surface to be electrified; and a switch 90 for switching a plurality of modes. In a 1st mode of the switch, an electric bias including single-polarity input driving voltage to the electrifying roll member is applied from the power source to the electrifying roll member. In a 2nd mode, an electric bias including the oscillating voltage signal having a multiple-polarity component is applied from the power source to the electrifying roll member to supply input driving voltage with oscillating polarities to the electrifying roll member. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
