<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make avoidable forming an image while a waste toner container is improperly mounted. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is equipped with the waste toner container 123 which stores a waste toner collected by a cleaning means of collecting the waste toner on an image carrier, a toner amount sensor 129 which detects the amount of the waste toner in the container, and a toner disposal managing means 131 of generating an alarm when a toner amount signal indicates that the toner is excessive. Further, this image forming apparatus is equipped with connectors 128 and 130 for connecting the sensor 129 to the managing means 131, which electrifies the sensor 129 through the connectors 128 and 130; and the connectors 128 and 130 include conductors 8 generating signals indicating whether they are connected or disconnected and the managing means 131 generates an alarm when a signal indicates connector disconnection. Further, an opening/closure detection switch 126 for a toner container cover 125 is provided and the sensor 129 is electrified through the switch and connectors. When the electric connectors (128, 130) are not connected, the toner disposal managing means (131) generates the alarm, so it is fund that the electric connectors are improperly connected.
