<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus capable of detecting a chromaticity highly precisely without being affected by density unevenness or color unevenness caused by the difference in the position of a color patch on transfer material, hardly causing the change of hue even when environmental variations varying gradation-density characteristics occur, and is superior in color reproduction property, and to provide an image forming condition compensating method. <P>SOLUTION: As shown in Fig.a and Fig.b, a plurality of patches 0-0 to 0-7 are formed in reverse order in a plurality of ranges on different transfer materials and the chromaticity of each patch is detected. The image forming condition is compensated by averaging the chromaticity of detected patches for the same color materials, for example, 0-0 of and 0-0 of b, and making the average the chromaticity for that patch 0-0. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
