摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device and an electronic equipment capable of performing clear color display by using an electro-optical substance layer such as liquid crystal layer. <P>SOLUTION: The electro-optical device is provided with the electro-optical substance layer 14, a layer 19 colored with respective colors of RGB which is arranged in a flat plane almost parallel to the electro-optical substance layer 14 and a light source generating light L1 supplied to the electro-optical substance layer 14 and the colored layer 19. Therein, the light source of a spectral characteristic having an intensity peak in an R color wavelength region such as a three wavelength type LED is used. When the layer thickness of the electro-optical substance layer 14 corresponding to the layer 19 colored with R color is dr, the layer thickness of the electro-optical substance layer 14 corresponding to the layer 19 colored with G color is dg and the layer thickness of the electro-optical substance layer 14 corresponding to the layer 19 colored with B color is db, it is set to be dr>dg>db.
