PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display cell and a liquid crystal display wherein image display of high quality can be performed without sacrificing an numerical aperture and with a simple structure. SOLUTION: In a part structure of the liquid crystal display cell formed by layering an array substrate 111, a gate insulation layer 112 and a signal line 102 in this order, a recessed part 5 is formed just above the signal line 102 in a flattening layer 113 covering the gate insulation layer 112 and the signal line 102, and a common electrode 3 is formed on the inner wall (inner side surface and bottom surface) of the recessed part 5 and on the flat surface of the flattening layer 113 corresponding to the shoulder part of the recessed part 5. A pixel electrode 104 is formed on the flat surface at a fixed distance away from the common electrode 3. Thereby, the distance between the signal line 102 and the common electrode 3 can be shortened and an effect for shielding an electric field can be obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
