PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically discover and preferentially erase failure image data recorded on a memory card. SOLUTION: When recordable capacity of image data on the memory card is lacked, an image file adding Exif Tag data to image data is read out of the memory card. The digital camera confirms Maker Note Tag within the image file to decide the presence of alert information. When there is alert information, image data within the image file are decided as failure image data, images of the image data are displayed on a display part of the digital camera, and the image file of the failure image data is then automatically erased from the memory card. The decision and the erasure are performed to all image files stored on the memory card. An image file adding Exif Tag data to newly photographed image data is then recorded on the memory card.
