PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image communication device which can make transmission charges to be billed adequate, and a charging method for the image communication device. SOLUTION: The facsimile device 10 functions as the image communication device. Image information, which shows an original manuscript image to be transmitted, is obtained by an image read part 14. Transmission conditions (communication modes) of the image information are inputted by an operation panel 26. When the image information is transmitted to a transmission destination device corresponding to reception capability by acquiring the reception capability of the image information in the transmission destination device of the image information by a communication control unit 28, the transmission charges of the image information are collected on the basis of the transmission conditions and the reception capability.
