PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an increase in the access time of a hard disk drive by correcting positional deviation of servo tracks of an identical track address based on an alignment error of a head assembly and to make complicated track management of a firmware unnecessary. SOLUTION: The track address of every recording surface is inputted to pattern forming parts 130 from a main controller, the pattern forming parts refer to the track address and generate a servo pattern corresponding to the track address. Servo pattern data are temporarily stored in pattern memories 131 and a transfer controlling circuit 132 reads the servo pattern data in the memories 131 in parallel in synchronism with a servo clock. The outputs of a pattern generator 112 are supplied to individual recording elements of a servo head 113 via write amplifiers 121 placed for every recording surface and the servo patterns are written in parallel to respective recording surfaces via the servo head 113.
