System and method for content vending

The method involves receiving a payment for a content item at a content vending machine e.g. automatic teller machine, where the payment is provided via cash inserted into machine by a user requesting the item. A wireless short-range data link is established with a discovered wireless node related to a user and the content item is dispatched to the node over the wireless short-range data link. An independent claim is also included for a system for content distribution.
