The square air change module (1) for a room in a building has a cylindrical filter for inlet air (5) and channels passing through the square heat exchanger (2) to the inlet air register (12). Air passes into the room through a square inlet opening (13). Air may leave the room through a square opening (9) and passes through the heat exchanger, giving up heat to the incoming fresh air. It passes to the outside through a cylindrical filter cartridge (6). Active charcoal filters may be used. Temperature sensors (21,22) are fitted in the heat exchanger.
