PURPOSE: A method for controlling the temperature of a fuser in an imaging apparatus is provided to stably fuse an image on a recording medium by minimizing the change width of a surface temperature of a fusing roller and stably maintaining the surface temperature of the fusing roller. CONSTITUTION: If the power of an imaging device is turned on, the surface temperature(T) of a fusing roller is detected in one of when the imaging device starts a normal operation from a power saving mode and when a cover is closed after being opened. The detected surface temperature(T) is compared with a predetermined setup temperature(Temp)(S1a). If the surface temperature(T) is less than the setup temperature(Temp), a heater is driven until the surface temperature(T) arrives in the first target temperature(Tt1)(S1b,S1c). If the surface temperature(T) is greater than the setup temperature(Temp), the heater is driven until the surface temperature(T) arrives in the second target temperature(Tt2)(S1f-S1j).
