Magnetorheological piston and damper assembly

The piston (40) has a body with a bypass port (42) in fluid communication with an annular gap (44). The port spaced apart from a coil (46), includes a longitudinal portion parallel to the piston longitudinal axis. The annular gap is spaced apart from the portion and extends parallel to the longitudinal axis. A valve modulates fluid (30) flows through the port and the gap during operation of the piston. An independent claim is also included for a magnetorheological damper assembly.
