A securing device 10 for wires (or wire ropes) having a body 11 having twin bores 12A, 12B with associated wedge members 17A, 17B movable along respective channels 16A, 16B converging on the bores 12A, 12B from abutments 18A, 18B adjacent inlets 14A, 14B to the bores, and locking screws 20A, 20B through screw threaded holes 19 in the abutments, whereby each screw is provided with a head 21A, 21B to come into contact with the respective abutment 18A, 18B when the respective wedge member 17A, 17B has been driven by the screw 20A, 20B into a wire 25 in the respective bore 12A, 12B to the extent necessary to lock the wire against withdrawal without causing detrimental damage thereto or to the body. Each abutment 18A, 18B may comprise a generally U-shaped member with a hole in each arm for snap engagement with a pip on each side of the body 11, each of which sides is also provided with a pair of ribs swaged over the side edges of the respective arm, to prevent disengagement of the arm from the respective pip. |
