Novel compounds (includes salts and optically active isomers thereof) of the general formula wherein X signifies a hydrogen or chlorine atom, Alk signifies a -CH 2 - or -CR 1 R 2 .CH.R 3 - group in which R 1 and R 2 each represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and R 3 represents a hydrogen atom or a C 1-4 alkoxy radical, and Ar signifies a phenyl radical or phenyl substituted by one or more C 1-4 alkyl radicals, bromine and chlorine atoms and trifluoromethyl radicals, are obtained by esterifying the appropriate amino-alcohol hydro - chloride, Ar-Alk.NH.(CH 2 ) 2 .OH.HCl, with a 3 - sulphamoyl - 4 - chloro - 5X - benzoyl chloride or with a 3-chlorosulphonyl-4-chloro- 5X-benzoyl chloride and treating the product so obtained with ammonium hydroxide. 1 - (m - Trifluoromethylphenyl) - 2 - [# - (31- chlorosulphonyl 41 - chlorobenzoyloxy) ethylamino] propane hydrochloride is prepared by the interaction of 1 -(m-trifluoromethylphenyl)-2- [(# - hydroxyethyl) amino] propane hydrochloride and 3 - chlorosulphonyl - 4 - chlorobenzoyl chloride. Pharmaceutical preparations suitable as anorexigenic and diuretic agents contain as active ingredient the above novel compounds and administration is orally, rectally or parenterally.
