PURPOSE: A balance shaft device having a variable unbalanced mass according to the operational condition is provided to reduce the driving noise of a balance shaft, under idle/low-speed driving. CONSTITUTION: A balance shaft device(1) having a variable unbalanced mass according to the operational condition includes a rotating shaft(3) and an unbalanced mass unit.(4) The rotating shaft rotates by the rotational force transmitted through a gear drive mechanism, and the middle part of the rotating shaft forms a square sectional shaft(8). The unbalanced mass unit rotates together with the square sectional shaft. The unbalanced mass unit moves in the centrifugal direction in proportion to the centrifugal force, and the eccentricity of the unbalanced mass unit is variable. Thus, unbalanced force is reduced and a drive noise of a gear is reduced, in idle drive of an engine.
