PURPOSE: An apparatus for adjusting luminance in a PDP(Plasma Display Panel) TV is provided to compare luminance signal DC levels of an analog RGB signal and a digital YUV signal and automatically adjust the luminance signal DC levels of the analog RGB signal and the digital YUV signal to be equal. CONSTITUTION: An image signal providing unit(110) outputs a progressive signal(480p) and an interlace signal(480i). A deinterlacer(120) receives the interlace signal(480i) from the image signal providing unit(110), and converts the received interlace signal(480i) into the progressive signal(480p). An image quality improvement signal processing unit(130) receives the progressive signal(480p) converted in the deinterlacer(120), improves image quality, and outputs a digital RGB image signal and a digital YUV luminance signal. A memory(180) stores a voltage level of a certain signal from the digital YUV luminance signal outputted from the image quality improvement signal processing unit(130). A D/A converter(140) receives the digital RGB image signal outputted from the image quality improvement signal processing unit(130), and converts the received digital RGB image signal into an analog RGB image signal. An input signal processing unit(150) receives the analog RGB image signal outputted from the D/A converter(140) or the progressive signal(480p) outputted from the image signal providing unit(110), and selectively processes the analog RGB image signal or the progressive signal(480p). A scaler(160) processes the image signal outputted from the input signal processing unit(150) as a signal capable of being displayed on a PDP module(170). A microcomputer(190) judges whether a voltage level of the image signal processed in the scaler(160) is identical to the voltage level stored in the memory(180), and outputs a control signal so that the input signal processing unit(150) adjusts luminance.
