Gas bottle assembly

The assembly has a container for a gas e.g. oxygen, and an operating head with a valve unit. The unit, in the absence of any demand for gas, is positioned close to a valve seat to permit only a minimal flow of gas from the container past the seat. An actuator (38) moves the unit to permit greater flow of gas to an outlet for use and has a piston part movable in a chamber. A valve spring is located in a side of the piston part. The piston is movable in the chamber in one direction in response to an actuator spring acting on an opposite side of the piston part to move the unit away from the seat. The piston part moves in an opposite direction in response to a combination of gas pressure and the return spring.
