The invention relates to a cylindrical filter cartridge having an annular filter medium that is embedded along with a support tube (16) in an end plate (15). The end (18) of the support tube has an end area (25) that is formed by a shoulder (26) and enables a reliable connection between the end plate (15) and the support tube (16). Said connection can also be preserved reliably in case the end plate (15) is elastically expanded over a sealing surface (29). This provides a cost-effective production method for producing said filter cartridge.
