Method of handling alarms by a management network with different layers in a communications system

The method involves at least one management device functioning as a an element manager (OMC) and at least one other as a superior network manger (NMC) and both management devices storing one or more operator defined alert notices associated with alerts. Alignment of the alert notices between the element manager(s) and network manager(s) is carried out to synchronize the information available to the operators in respect of the alert notices. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a communications system with a management network with at least two management devices in different levels.
