PURPOSE: A reciprocating pump and a vacuum pump are provided to reduce power consumption of a root pump and reduce the cost by not using a driving source for an auxiliary pump. CONSTITUTION: A reciprocating pump(35) includes a working chamber(351) having volume, a diaphragm(56), a driving shaft(33), and a roller(62). The diaphragm forms a part of the working chamber, and is displaced to change the volume of the working chamber. According to the displacement of the diaphragm, a refrigerant is sucked into the working chamber, and is discharged from the working chamber. The driving shaft rotates centering on an axial line(331), having a groove(50) on a circumference thereof. The roller is combined with the groove of the driving shaft to be connected to the diaphragm. If the driving shaft rotates, the roller reciprocates along the axial line of the driving shaft, being guided by the groove. If the roller reciprocates, the diaphragm is displaced along the axial line of the driving shaft.
