PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for recording a program in an image display device are provided to record the program for which a user wishes by removing an advertisement when the advertisement is broadcasted in an intermediate portion of the program while recording the program. CONSTITUTION: A receiving unit(100) tunes a selected channel, receives a broadcasting signal from the channel, and processes the received broadcasting signal. A data processing unit(112) processes the broadcasting signal provided from the receiving unit(100), recovers a transport stream, and outputs the transport stream. A recording medium receives the transport stream and records the received transport stream. If the transport stream is an advertisement, an advertisement removing unit(114) removes the advertisement.
