A cosmetic composition for the washing and anti-dandruff treatment of the hair and scalp comprising, in an aqueous medium, one or more pyridinethione salts as an anti-dandruff agent, one or more betaine group amphoteric surfactants and at least 1 wt.% of a hydroxyacid. An Independent claim is included for a method of cosmetic or dermatological treatment comprising the application of the claimed composition to the hair or scalp, followed by rinsing, preferably with water after an optional resting period.
