The method involves blocking an electronic control circuit of a device for heating of thermo-retractable clips as soon as predetermined criterion is recognized. The releasing/unlocking of the heating device is authorized solely using external information, e.g. personal identification number (PIN) stored e.g. in a IC card. The predetermined criterion for blocking can be selected from number of pulses or uses, utilization period, and temperature. An Independent claim is also included for a heating device for thermo-retractable clip.
