Assembly procedure for ceramic and metal components uses intermediate layer of same materials with composition gradient from one surface to other

The assembly procedure consists of using an intermediate layer made from the same metal and ceramic materials as the components being assembled. The intermediate layer has a continuous composition gradient from one surface to the other, and is made from deposited layers of material with a composition that varies from one to the next, using plasma projection or e.g. laser fritting. The components are then assembled in two stages, first joining the intermediate layer to the ceramic component and then to the metal one by brazing, using a standard process for joining metals.
