PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for lifting a counter weight of an elevator for safely and efficiently lifting the counter weight to lower a car until a prescribed level. SOLUTION: A raising base 10 and a pressurizing jack 12 are provided to be arranged in the vertical direction between a bottom part of a pit 3 of a hoistway 2 and the counter weight 1 of the elevator. By repeating changing of the number of the raising bases 10 arranged to be overlapped under the pressurizing jack 12 and extending and contracting of the pressurizing jack 12, the counter weight 1 is successively pushed up and lifted. Subsequently, the pressurizing jack 12 and a telescopically adjustable expansion device are provided to be arranged in the vertical direction between the bottom part of the pit 3 of the hoistway 2 and the counter weight 1 of the elevator. By repeating extending and contracting of the pressurizing jack 12 and elongating of the expansion device, the counter weight 1 is further pushed up and lifted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
