PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape carrier for TAB which can improve the continuous manufacturing yield with the simplified structure and can attain high connection reliability while the manufacturing efficiency is improved and manufacturing cost is reduced, and also to provide a method of manufacturing the tape carrier for TAB. SOLUTION: The tape carrier for TAB is obtained by loading only a plurality of flexible wiring substrates 1 of the individual piece type, which have been manufactured separately and decided as good ones previously in the inspection process on a transfer supporting film 7 keeping the predetermined interval. According to this method, after loading of the flexible wiring substrate 1, yield of the continuous manufacture can be improved, while the process to replace the no-good flexible wiring substrate detected by the inspection to the good flexible wiring substrate is eliminated. Moreover, generation of steps between the flexible wiring substrates resulting from such replacement can be prevented, thereby attaining higher connection reliability. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
