PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a contact electrifier equipped with a small-sized cleaning member, and capable of stably electrifying a body to be electrified over a long period by satisfactorily cleaning the contact electrifier. SOLUTION: As for the image forming apparatus, the apparatus is provided with the contact electrifier 2 for electrifying the image carrier in contact with the image carrier, and which is rotated in a prescribed rotating direction, a brush 112 having a circular-arc contact surface coming into contact with the contact electrifier 2, and the cleaning member equipped with a contact position changing member 120 for freely changeably bringing only a part of the circular-arc contact surface 10a of the brush 112 into contact with the electrifier 2.
