PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with wasteful air-conditioning inside a cabin in an air conditioner for a vehicle. SOLUTION: When a control device 8 uses a noncontact temperature sensor 70 and detects temperature distribution inside the cabin without touching, it is judged in the cabin on the basis of this detected temperature distribution which location information of occupant's face is applicable to any one of air-conditioned areas 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, and only the air-conditioned areas judged to be applicable to this location information of the face are air-conditioned.
