A method and device for detecting an accumulation (9) of a solid material in a vessel (2) that contains at least one fluid phase. The device comprises an electric conductor element (10) that is positioned in a region inside the vessel (2) where the accumulation (9) is likely to occur, the electric resistance of the conductor element (10) being a function of the temperature thereof, and means (12) for providing electrical power to the conductor element (10) and means (13) for measuring the electrical resistance of the conductor element (10).
