The invention relates to an electrical appliance housing with a housing body made from rigid plastic, in which an opening is provided for the operation o f a switch or similar within the housing body. The opening is sealed by means of a membrane made from a flexible plastic and an operating knob for operating the switch is provided in or on the membrane. According to the invention, th e operating knob is fixed to a rigid plastic socket which is materially connected to the membrane. The socket made from rigid plastic is hermeticall y connected to the membrane such that no water may enter the housing interior. The socket and membrane are thus preferably made from plastics which are materially related, in order to guarantee a good connection. The operating knob can be made from various materials without having to take account of a suitable pairing of materials for the membrane and the operating knob on the grounds of a sealed connection to the membrane. The membrane can be moulded on the socket made from rigid plastic in a two-component injection moulding process. Furthermore, the socket supporting the operating knob is connected to the housing body by means of an elastic bridge. The elastic bridge is preferably embodied of homogeneous material and in one-piece with the housin g body and/or the socket. |
