<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to refer to only his or her desired information without losing semantic or layout connection. <P>SOLUTION: A part designated by a user is transmitted to an analyzing means 4 by a pointing means 3, and the analyzing means 4 extracts electronic document configuring elements semantically connected to the designated part from an electronic document by using analytic conditions stored in a storage means 6. Electronic document structure data such as paragraphs, tables, table cells, itemized statements, titles, parting lines, and frames are used as the analytic conditions stored in the storage means 6. The extracted electronic document configuring elements are displayed by a display means 5 according to the display conditions stored in the storage meas 6.
