PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic actuator to be mounted on a digital camera or the like, wherein miniaturization is performed and sufficient driving torque and magnetic attraction (retention) are ensured. SOLUTION: This electromagnetic actuator is provided with a rotor 41 which has peripheries 41b, 41c magnetized to polarity of N and polarity of S and a drive pin 41d, a coil 44 for excitation, and yokes 42, 43 which have arcuate first magnetic poles 42a', 43a' and second magnetic poles 42b', 43b' which face the peripheries of the rotor 41. In the rotor 41, a protrusion 41e is arranged which is protruded from the periphery 41b to radial direction exterior and magnetized to the same polarity with the periphery, and faces end surfaces 42a", 43a" of the first magnetic poles and end surfaces 42b", 43b" of the second magnetic poles. As a result, area of a surface facing the yokes is enlarged as the whole rotor, so that desired retention and drive torque is obtained while miniaturization is performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
