PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transmission system capable of controlling an image at a receiving side so that an image is easy to be seen. SOLUTION: The system comprises an encoder 242 that encodes and transmits image data, and a decoder 251 that receives and decodes the image data to reproduce an image. The decoder 251 is provided with a temporary storage means 54 for received data, a storage control means 52 that controls the writing and reading of the image data to/from the temporary storage means 54, and a decoding means 56 for the image data. The system reads out the image data from the temporary storage means 54 at a reading speed different from a writing speed and supplies the data to the decoding means 56, and changes the display speed of the image reproduced by the decoder 251 with respect to the display speed of an image transmitted from the encoder 242.
