PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly download files from a Web server to a NAS, without going through an information processing apparatus, from a viewpoint of reducing the processing load of the information processing apparatus, when downloading files from the Web server to the NAS. SOLUTION: This storage device controller is provided with a file system, that performs the input/output of data to a storage device, depending on the data input/output request, upon receiving a data input/output request, based on a file name specification, which is sent through a network. The device controller is provided with a means for receiving a proxy request of downloading the files from the Web server on the Internet, which is transmitted by a HTTP protocol through the network; a means for connecting with the Internet; a means for downloading the files from the Web server, in response to the proxy request; and a means for storing the downloaded files in the storage device by the file system.
