PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend service lives of reflective liquid crystal display elements 13R, 13B and 29G in a liquid crystal projector optical system which obtains an image high in luminance and high in contrast. SOLUTION: The reflective liquid crystal display element 13R is inclined and disposed. Thereby light reflected with the reflective liquid crystal display elements 13R, 13Band 29G is further reflected with other optical components, does not return to the reflective liquid crystal display elements 13R, 13B and 29G and does not cause a temperature rising.
