The invention relates to a method for removing sulfur compounds from gases containing hydrocarbons by using catalysts, apart from activated carbon and zeolites, which contain carbon, silver, zinc, molybdenum, iron, cobalt, nick el or mixtures thereof, at temperatures ranging from (-50) to 150 ~C and under a pressure ranging from 0.1 to 10 bar.
