PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maximize the color reproducing color space of an RGBCMY-process black and to provide high gradation output images in the preparation of a color conversion lookup table (LUT) in a printer. SOLUTION: In the preparation of the color conversion LUT, the method comprises a first procedure of obtaining respective ink combinations for outputting the maximum color space by chromatic inks and K ink, and a second procedure of deriving a complementary color ink amount to the K ink and the chromatic ink on the basis of the measured results of several kinds of patches outputted from the printer such that lightness or density in the obtained K ink and a chromatic ink amount put on it becomes equal and performing color resolving to CMYK ink in a color conversion LUT grid point sequence outputting the color reproducing color space of the RGBCMY-process black.
