PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device in which time required for a kick action is reduced and an objective lens is moved to an appropriate position. SOLUTION: When a kick action command is given, the lens is moved toward an object track by generating acceleration pulses. A kick threshold value "a" is set as a value which is 1/2 of a maximum amplitude MAX of tracking error signals detected in a previous kick operation. When the signals reach the value "a", acceleration of the moving speed is stopped and an approximately constant motion is conducted. When the tracking error signals become the value "a", decelerating pulses are generated for an interval whose duration is equal to the interval of the acceleration pulses. The moving speed of the lens is reduced. When the lens arrives at an object track, a pull-in operation is started. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
