PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gripping part structure for a recording tape cartridge wherein the structures of the gripping parts of various recording data cartridge are made common to reduce the costs. SOLUTION: In order to house different kinds of recording tape cartridges each provided with a case 12 for rotatably housing a reel 14 on which a recording tape T is wound, and a gripping part 46 recessed in the side wall of the case 12 and gripped by the gripping means 70 of a library 100 from both sides in the same library 100, a height from the bottom surface of a housing chamber 102 to a gripping part 46 when a recording tape cartridge 10 is housed in each housing chamber 102 of the library 100, and the space of the library take-out corners 66 of the gripping part 46 are equal irrespective of the type of a recording tape cartridge.
