PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving picture data file which can be operated for reproduction, correction/editing, etc., by easily and indirectly taking data of a necessary scene out of the moving picture data file containing a plurality of scenes. SOLUTION: This moving picture data file is characterized in that an arbitrary frame made to correspond to each index in the moving picture data file is taken out as still picture data and regarded as a thumbnail of the index for an arbitrary frame of the moving picture data file.
