摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a GPS type wave direction measuring method which has an algorithm capable of performing automatic simple and stable wave direction analysis, by making it possible to perform wave direction analysis of a wave based on GPS positioning data. SOLUTION: On the basis of the transverse two-dimensional displacement of a floating body such as a buoy robot floating on the wave obtained by GPS positioning, this GPS type wave direction measuring method presumes the transverse speed of the wave at approximately maximum peak points of the wave height by numerical differentiation, at a plurality of points near the peak point existing in a period of the wave specified by a zero-up crossing method. The wave direction of the wave in that period can be found from the transverse speed. The instrumentation of the direction of the sea wave does not involve artificial judgment, and objective and precise instrumentation can be performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
