PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shutter device which enables an intermediate column to be housed on the ceiling side of a building, even if a width from a width-direction end of an opening of the building to the intermediate column is smaller in dimension than the height of the intermediate column. SOLUTION: The shutter device is equipped with a plurality of shutter curtains 7 which ascends/descends so as to open/close the opening 1 of a storehouse, and the intermediate columns 5 which are provided among the shutter curtains 7; and the intermediate column 5 is provided in the state of being freely turnable between a guide position to be vertically located so as to guide the ascent/descent of the shutter curtain 7 and a storage position to be almost horizontally located in the rear of the opening 1 so as to be housed under a lintel 15.
