PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply and stably manufacturing a hydrophilic polymer particle having a large particle size. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the hydrophilic polymer particle comprises polymerizing a hydrophilic monomer, where the hydrophilic monomer is polymerized in an organic solvent comprising an organic solvent having a larger specific gravity than that of an aqueous solution containing the hydrophilic monomer and a water-soluble polymerization initiator and an organic solvent having a smaller specific gravity than that of the aqueous solution.
