PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external preparation for skin having an excellent antimicrobial ability against a plurality of microorganisms, gentle to humans or the environment and imparting a good aroma and coloring when added. SOLUTION: The external preparation for the skin is obtained by formulating one or two species of fruits selected from Vaccinium membranaceum and Vaccinium ovatum in the external preparation. The fruits, especially extracts from the fruits of the Vaccinium membranaceum and Vaccinium ovatum exhibit a high antimicrobial activity and impart the good aroma and coloring when added.
