The folding roof unit includes a cover (1) with its front end sector fixed to a front strut (2) and several side rood connecting rods (3, 4) which form a part of the folding roof mechanism (15). The front strut can be moved stagelessly relative to the side connecting rods between a closed position and a half-open position, while the side connecting rods remain in the closed position for the folding roof unit.
